From Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), a total of 20 students are welcomed by Downbelow Managing Director Richard Swann and the island staff team of our premier PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre!

The Tunku Abdul Rahman marine park will be our ‘playground’ for a day, as the university students participate in our PADI Scuba Diver Try Dive program.

To begin their morning, they will focus on completing the skills they need to master, such as regulator recovery and mask clearing. Two of the students are certified divers and will be joining the group to offer support so they pass the skills progress to the open water dive!

One of the members, Awang, is one of our Sabah Travel Centre ex-staff and has completed work experience too. At Downbelow, we offer opportunities for our local community to gain the necessary experience that is so valuable when working in such a fast-paced industry as tourism. Awang, as well as his 19 peers of the UMS group, gain a deeper appreciation for protecting and preserving our marine environment for the future of our tourism industry to thrive!

Contact our Sabah Travel Centre for a detailed itinerary of an experience program through our various island activities, such as scuba diving, snorkelling, island jungle trekking or kayaking, for your group to learn more about our natural biodiversity in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah!
