Parents and guardians can be rest assured that their children travel safe with Downbelow’s international standards!
For a 1-day program, International School Nan Jing from China witnessed the coral reef of TAR marine park through our Snorkel Safari program, and also tried the worlds’ longest island-to-island zipline! And there are still plenty of adventure activities to explore around Sabah for our travelling groups, such as white water rafting on Padas River! Many of our group clients are from schools and universities, because the reputation of safety at our Downbelow operations is stellar, and that’s the most important aspect when organising activities for children and young adults.
At Downbelow Marine and Wildlife Adventures, a very special event took place – Boy Scouts Singapore Troop learn SCUBA for the first time at our Gaya Island beach house!
While learning to scuba dive during the day on our PADI Open Water Diver course, the 12 Boy Scouts enjoyed camping overnight at our premier PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre too. Camping where their many island activities will be conducted means they make the most of their time to complete as many new skills as they can for merit badges (and they completed many!), such as a beach clean with our island staff team of PADI professionals to learn about marine conservation. Some will enjoy snorkelling, as will their 4 Boy Scout leaders (also their adult chaperones on their trip), and everyone will have the chance to experience the worlds’ longest island-to-island zipline!
Most important with group travel is safety, especially when the group participants are young. Contact our experienced Downbelow Travel Centre experts on an itinerary suitable for a group of younger travellers to experience Sabah, Borneo.
For the 4th year in a row, we’ve experienced a ‘Seasfire’ at Gaya Island again!
The Seasfire organisation from Mont Kiara International School in Kuala Lumpur is a crew of adventure enthusiasts who specifically visit Sabah and Kota Kinabalu to experience scuba diving in Tunku Abdul Rahman marine park under the supervision of our operations. Schools and universities, such as those students in Seasfire, frequently visit our PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre to experience diving for the first time or continue their dive adventure. But also other adventure activities that can only be found in Sabah, Borneo!

Travelling in a large group proves it’s safe to travel together…even safer with Downbelow!
Kath Giles contacted our Downbelow Travel Centre for a day of rest and relaxation for her group of 20 adventurers’ who have toured all over Sabah, Borneo. For the last activity before their next travel destination, our travel experts arranged for the group to explore the Tunku Abdul Rahman marine park on our multi-activity program. This includes a variety of activities: snorkelling, kayaking, jungle trekking, and some preferred to snorkel every session, whereas other participants tried all 3! Safety is always the highest priority, so an experienced PADI guide is always nearby during all in-water activities.

For 4 days and 3 nights, our 4th group from Denmark this year experience the last of the adventure activities on their 1-month program that our Downbelow Travel Centre experts personalised for them. Before groups visit Sabah, they are prepared with a set of frequently asked questions to offer answers to any general questions, such as ‘Will I be travelling alone?’ Teamwork is essential to many of the activities especially river crossings of the Crocker Range Salt trails route, and it would defeat the purpose to even participate – so, no, travelling independently is not the goal on our Expedition Borneo program!
