Participants of our Expedition Borneo program enjoy making a positive difference on their Sabah adventure when visiting Bilit Village for a few days on our wildlife safari program!

During their few nights along the famous Kinabatangan River, the adventurers’ discover the amazing biodiversity of the jungle and river in the Sandakan region of Sabah. Each early morning and late afternoon (after the hottest time of the day!), they will join a river cruise to spot rare and endemic animals, such as orang utan, proboscis monkeys, long-tailed and pig-tailed macaques, crocodiles, and if they are lucky – there’s a chance to witness the elusive Bornean pygmy elephant!

Other activities include tree-planting, which gives a greater sense of appreciation that the rainforest of Borneo needs protecting and preserving to maintain its biodiversity, and in turn supports wildlife population. Several of our Danish adventurers’ will return for a Go PRO internship program at our premier PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre to qualify as PADI Divemaster or PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. Because they were so inspired by their experience of learning to dive and getting involved in the various conservation programs our island staff team conduct, they return to Bilit Village and Kinabatangan River to visit the tree they planted on their previous visit!

It’s becoming more popular to choose operations with ecotourism policies for the benefits of positive contribution to our natural local environment!
